When good materials get a second life

Material Collaborations

From our factory to new Products

In our production, leftover materials are given a new purpose and transformed into recycled felt. It is a material we use in several of our own products, such as insoles, sit pads, and slippers, but one that has also proven to be well suited for many other applications.

That is why we are especially proud of the material collaborations that have developed over the years. When other companies see the potential in letting production waste continue to serve a purpose, far beyond our own manufacturing process.

Below, we share the stories of some of the companies that have chosen to work with our felt and other surplus materials, as well as the products that have emerged from these collaborations.

Trangia

When production waste from our factory is transformed into recycled felt, it can find many different uses. At Trangia, the material is used in cases for camping stoves and gas burners, as well as for the “Tamoj”, the handle used to safely grip hot cookware.

Our collaboration with Trangia is especially rewarding because it builds on something we share: strong roots in Jämtland and a belief in the value of Swedish manufacturing. Through Trangia’s products, the material accompanies people into the forest, up into the mountains, and out into the wider world, continuing to serve a purpose long after it has left our own production.

Icebug

Through our collaboration with Icebug, our recycled felt material has found new applications in several different shoe models. Made from production waste, the felt is used in areas such as the shoe shaft and various design details, where its natural insulating properties contribute both warmth and comfort.

The collaboration demonstrates how a material can continue to serve a purpose in a completely different type of product than it was originally intended for. By incorporating our recycled felt, Icebug has been able to make use of the material’s functional qualities while extending its lifespan.

Like us, Icebug develops products for people who want to spend time outdoors all year round. This shared focus on functionality and durability has made our recycled felt a natural component in several of their footwear designs.

Synsam

When Synsam developed its Jämtö eyewear collection, our recycled felt material became a natural part of the concept. The collection is produced on Frösön, just outside Östersund, and draws inspiration from the landscapes and heritage of Jämtland. The frames are accompanied by cases made from surplus material from our production in Östersund.

Tip: An eyeglass case is also a perfect DIY project for anyone looking to create something of their own using our recycled felt material. Durable and shape-retaining, the felt is easy to work with and well suited to smaller craft projects.
