Our coolest material
Woolpower LITE
Even though Woolpower LITE consists of 80% merino wool, we often describe it as our coolest material. This may sound surprising given the high wool content, but the explanation lies in the knitting technique.
What is Woolpower LITE?
Woolpower LITE is our thinnest material and was developed as a complement to Ullfrotté Original. Despite the high percentage of merino wool, it feels cooler than Ullfrotté thanks to the way it is knitted.
It is ideal for people who naturally run warm or who need a thinner base layer for milder temperatures and higher-intensity activities. The material is rib-knitted and sits close to the body, making it soft, flexible and comfortable to wear directly against the skin.
More wool – less warmth
Although Woolpower LITE contains a high percentage of merino wool, the material feels cooler than Ullfrotté Original. The difference lies in the knitting technique.
Ullfrotté Original has terry loops on the inside that trap large amounts of air and create an insulating layer between the body and the fabric. LITE does not have these loops. Instead, the fabric is rib-knitted and sits closer to the skin, creating more contact points that allow body heat to dissipate.
This is why LITE feels cooler despite the high wool content.
Flexible and comfortable material
Garments that chafe or feel uncomfortable can quickly ruin an activity. That is why Woolpower LITE has been developed to be soft, flexible and close-fitting.
The merino wool used in the material has a fibre diameter of 19.5 microns. Combined with the rib-knit construction, this creates an elastic fabric that is soft against the skin while remaining flexible.
The fabric is stretchy and follows the body’s movements without feeling restrictive.
When should you use Woolpower LITE?
Woolpower LITE works well in milder temperatures or during higher-intensity activities, such as running.
The material works as a first layer next to the skin and can be combined with warmer garments in Ullfrotté Original, such as 200, 400 or 600. With multiple layers, you can easily adjust the level of insulation depending on temperature and activity.
FAQ About Woolpower LITE
The difference comes from how the materials are knitted. Ullfrotté Original has terry loops on the inside that trap large amounts of air and create an insulating layer between the body and the fabric.
Woolpower LITE is knitted in a 1:1 rib and sits closer to the skin. This creates more contact points with the body, allowing heat to dissipate more quickly. That is why LITE feels cooler than Ullfrotté, even though both materials contain merino wool.
Yes. Even though Woolpower LITE contains a high percentage of merino wool, the material feels cooler thanks to the knitting technique.
Because the fabric sits closer to the skin, heat is led away from the body instead of being trapped in an insulating air layer. At the same time, wool helps regulate temperature and transport moisture away from the skin.
Woolpower LITE works well in milder temperatures or during higher-intensity activities.
The material is often used as a first layer next to the skin, for example when hiking, running or doing other activities where you move a lot. It can also be combined with warmer garments in Ullfrotté Original as part of a layering system.
The knitting determines how much air the material traps and how close the fabric sits to the skin.

Yes. Woolpower LITE works well as a first layer next to the skin. The material helps transport moisture away and contributes to a stable and comfortable temperature close to the body.
In colder conditions it can be combined with warmer layers in Ullfrotté Original, such as 200, 400 or 600.
Yes. Woolpower LITE works well for high-intensity activities where your body produces more heat.
Because the material sits close to the skin and allows heat to dissipate more easily, it helps maintain a comfortable temperature during movement. At the same time, the wool helps transport moisture away from the skin.
In colder conditions, it can be combined with warmer layers in Ullfrotté Original, such as 200, 400 or 600, as part of a layering system.
