It's function. Not fashion.
The goal of Woolpower is to make high quality, highly functional products that last a long time. The production in Östersund is quality controlled and certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2000, and we are continuously working on improving many aspects of our business.
Having the entire production in Östersund allows all employees, even the ones that are not directly involved with production, to have an insight into what we are doing and how the various items are made. We have full control of our production and can ensure the highest quality.
Here in Östersund we have a cold climate and those of us who work at Woolpower do not have to go far to test our products. In addition, we work with a number of people who test and use the products in various environments and climates.
Some of the reasons to why our products offer such a high standard of quality and longevity are:
FEW SEAMS THAT CAN RUB AND TEAR
We look at seams as something negative since they are the weakest point in the material and present the highest risk of tearing. In addition, seams in general are less elastic and not as soft as the rest of the garment, so with fewer seams the garment is more comfortable. This is why most of our garments are constructed of finished “tubes” and thus have fewer seams. Even the cuffs for both arms and legs are made in one piece.
MANUFACTURING IS A CRAFT
No employees of Woolpower do piece work; they all have a monthly salary. The most important thing is not to make as many garments as possible, but to make garments of the highest quality. Therefore, there are various controls and tests throughout our production process to make sure that no errors will occur. Each garment is made by one seamstress who also does the final quality control on the finished item. The seamstress checks the garment and approves it by sewing in her name label. We are proud of what we make and we stand behind what we do.
Of course, errors can occur even with us. If the error is a cosmetic blemish that does not affect the item’s function, the garment is sold as a factory second in our outlet store. If the error is grave enough that we still cannot sell it, we give the garment away to charity.
NOT 100% WOOL
Wool is a unique raw material with many positive characters. But wool is not as wear-resistant as synthetic fibers. Because of this, we have blended the wool with polyester, among other fibers, which allows us to keep the wool’s character while simultaneously making the garments stronger than if we were to make the garments from 100% wool.
Our ambition is to make even better products by using even better raw materials and new refining methods.
