Quality and environmental concerns are a vital part of the daily workings of Woolpower. We are ISO 14001:2004 certified.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Woolpower produces warm undergarments under the Woolpower brand name. These garments are used by professionals and outdoor enthusiasts who want to or have to stay warm and comfortable in their outdoor activities. As with all industrial operations, ours has an effect on the environment. The purpose of our environmental efforts is to decrease the environmental impact from our manufacturing, as well as that of our suppliers and of our end consumers. Woolpower AB is committed to actively work toward long-term sustainable development. Our garments use a high percentage of wool – a renewable resource – along with synthetic fibers, which increases the durability of the fabric and extends the life span of the garments. This way, we both decrease our impact on the environment as well as minimize the overall use of resources. In addition, caring for our environs – the mountains, lakes, bogs and forests that surround us – is a necessity for our company’s prosperity and development.

In order to achieve this Woolpower AB will:

• continuously evolve and improve our environmental management program, and openly show what we are doing for the environment.
• use suppliers that have high standards for their raw materials’ and their productions’ environmental impact, and also who continuously work to improve the environment.
•work towards reducing the use of non-renewable resources and energy, and be sparing in our use of our raw materials.
•educate, inform and be organized so that each co-worker takes the environment into account with each decision taken.
•minimize waste by sorting the waste that is generated and reduce the amount of textile leftovers as much as possible.
•follow laws and other requirements.

THE MAKING OF WOOL
Traditional wool refining methods adversely effect the environment. There are however, currently available solutions to most environmental concerns connected with wool production. The environmentally safe way of producing wool allows for more sustainable use of natural resources. Avoiding over-grazing, for instance, promotes a natural growth cycle, as does using manual and biological means to fight insects. Problems arising from the wool-washing process can be solved with better cleaning, with environmentally safe cleaning chemicals, and by composting and recycling the organic waste material.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT SUPPLIER
In order to make the wool machine washable, the raw material is treated before spinning with a so-called “anti felting” treatment. Within the industry, intensive research is being conducted to come up with a better and more environmentally friendly method of this. Woolpower tries as hard as possible to choose suppliers that use an environmentally responsible way to produce wool, and we follow the new developments carefully.

LONG LIFESPAN
One way to reduce the effect on the environment and its resources is to produce high quality products that last a long time. The return is that we use less natural resources and energy and at the same time, we produce less waste.

All Woolpower undergarments are certified according to Öko-tex standard 100. Öko-tex is an international humane-ecological stamp that assures that there are no poisonous or dangerous chemicals in the garments.
